Moving In - Southport Times (press release) (blog)

Wednesday, October 12, 2011 Moving InThe Penske trucks, the U-Hauls and the Van Lines are arriving in the area along with the many packed and crowded cars. New residents are discovering the fall is a great time for moving into the area. The golf courses, tennis courts and beaches are still filled with people. The shops in town are stocked and ready for the upcoming holiday season, and there are many new faces to meet and greet for coffee in town. The long heavy truck pulled into the road, opened the doors and within a few hours, the furniture was placed, the boxes stashed in appropriate rooms and the grill had been pressed into use. The truck was scheduled for another home delivery and the men worked feverishly to get new residents settled into their quarters. There were decisions to make, where to place furniture in a different layout, where to place the box of odds and ends packed at the last moment in another home. The art that had graced the tall open wall in the old house suddenly seemed to dwarf the space over the fireplace. The 18 wheeler slowly edged back onto the narrow road and cruised on toward the next stop. We opened boxes and hung clothes, placed dishes in the cabinets, filled the refrigerator with cooler contents and began to settle into the new home. The cell phone reminded us that business would continue in the new location. Offices in homes are part of life these days and the computers, printers and office supplies were unpacked and readied for new projects. Warm sunshine, crisp air and the green of the golf course encouraged us to leave the boxes, delay the picture hanging and get outside to enjoy the new neighborhood. Tennis courts were full with doubles and singles matches, a casual tournament among friends. The gold course was busy with foursomes making their way along the links. The beach was alluring, the golden sand warm from the sun was filled with fishermen and sunworshipers. Van Lines
